Yvonne Boice Supports NeoNatal Unit
Recently donors that contributed to Bethesda Health’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit were invited to a private tour of the new unit. Donations from the past 3 years raised more than $1 million dollars to make the renovation possible.
Guests and donors of the 2015 60th Anniversary Ball contributed $1million to kick off the project. Proceeds from the 2015 Women of Grace Luncheon were used to purchase 10 Panda bed warmers. One of the many state-of-the-art features in the Level III NICU is a Giraffe Shuttle which provides seamless continuity of care when transporting infants from one care area to another, was generously donated by The Magnolia Society.
The grand opening and private tours were available to our generous donors. A special donation from Yvonne Boice was unveiled at the event. Yvonne, a 2017 Women of Grace Honoree, donated a painting by Haitian artist, Joel Gauthier, with giraffes that matched the theme of the NICU décor. “This painting will have a perfect home in our NICU and we are so grateful to Yvonne for her donation and to all our donors that made the renovation possible,” said Barbara James, Vice President and Executive Director of Bethesda Hospital Foundation.
Yvonne Boice Spearheads Scholarship Fund
Yvonne Boice is honored to be one of the guiding forces behind the Jessica Marulli Memorial Scholarship Fund which will be awarded to deserving Liberal Arts students at Franklin Pierce University. Yvonne received one of her honorary doctorates from the university and the campus is also home to the Yvonne Boice Performing Arts Center.
After the untimely death of Jessica Marulli, Yvonne reached out to her parents, whom she had known for many years with an idea to establish a scholarship in Jessica's name. Al Marulli, Jessica's father, is a graduate of FPU. He and his wife, Barbara embraced Yvonne's suggestion and the first scholarship fundraising event was held on March 28, 2018 in Palm Beach. See second video for event coverage and Yvonne's speech at the event.
